O-SCAN WELCOMES YOU

Ohio Supply Chain Academic Network

The Ohio Supply Chain Academic Network is a collaboration between the supply chain industry and higher education. O∙SCAN promotes the value of supply chain education and advances the field by integrating emerging technologies in the logistics industry into academic curricula.

The Supply Chain Management (SCM) industry has notoriously had an issue with being mostly unknown. Many of those in the industry “fell” into it, coming from another industry or segment. Many don’t know what we do.

The misnomer is that Supply Chain Management is forklifts and cardboard boxes and trucks. While that’s a small part, it’s just scratching the surface. Supply Chain Management is also collaborative robots, automation, procurement, operations planning, data analysis, autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, ride-sharing, smart cities, smart streets, smart busses, imports and exports, connected vehicles, drones, pipelines, ships, planes…and even someday hyperloop.

The rise of eCommerce and everything being delivered to our homes has highlighted the importance, and proliferation of Supply Chain Management. And that has created a tremendous need for a large, smart workforce.
